RESUMO

Wild boars have a worldwide distribution and also have major economic, veterinary, and medical importance. Due to a small amount of data on the parasitic fauna of wild boars in the Russian Far East, especially in Prymorye territory, a post-mortem parasitic examination of 20 wild boars was provided. The general prevalence was 25%, and a total of six helminth species, including one larva stage, were found. The most prevalent helminth species were Gnathostoma doloresi (25%) and Metastrongylus elongatus (20%). Followed by Trichuris suis and Ascaris suum (15%). The lowest prevalence was registered for Cysticercus tenuicollis (the larvae stage of T. hydatigena). Parasites were found in each region, with the highest prevalence registered in the Chuguevskii region. Totally 100% of adult boars were positive for helminth infections, instead of 60% of young specimens. Some helminthes found (G. doloresi, T. suis, A. suum) have zoonotic potential and can be involved in the circulation of human parasitic diseases, especially in rural areas. Further research work on parasitic infections in wild boars in Prymorye is necessary due to the high prevalence of helminthes in wild boars.

OBJECTIVE: To assess whether the retention rate of certolizumab pegol (CZP) was longer than that of other tumour necrosis factor inhibitors (TNFi) based on baseline rheumatoid factor (RF) levels. Background: Demodex mites can lead to various skin disorders, from non-specific dermatitis to conditions that mimic other diseases, making it challenging to diagnose accurately. Additionally, it has been reported that Demodex mites can cause skin conditions such as perioral dermatitis, pustular folliculitis, pityriasis folliculorum, blepharitis, and rosacea. Due to conflicting studies, there is a debate regarding the link between Demodex mites and acne vulgaris. This study aims to determine the prevalence of Demodex mites on the faces of individuals with acne vulgaris, acne with nonspecific facial dermatitis, and healthy facial skin to clarify the association. Materials and Methods: This observational case-control study involved 120 participants aged 18-37: 40 individuals with acne vulgaris only, 40 with acne and nonspecific facial dermatitis, and 40 healthy controls. The same dermatologist examined and diagnosed all participants to ensure accuracy before being grouped. The Standardized Skin Surface Biopsy (SSSB) method was used to detect Demodex mites in all three study groups. Furthermore, additional samples were collected randomly from acne lesions using the Superficial Needle Scraping (SNS) method in the two acne groups. Results: The study found no significant difference in Demodex prevalence and high Demodex density rate between patients with only acne vulgaris and the control group (p>0.05). However, acne patients with nonspecific facial dermatitis had a higher rate of Demodex prevalence and high Demodex density rate than the only acne vulgaris and control group (p<0.05). The clinical symptoms of nonspecific facial dermatitis in acne patients strongly associated with Demodex mites are patchy red, dry, scaly skin, roughness, insect bite-like papules, and flushing. Conclusion: Demodex prevalence and high Demodex density rate are not associated with acne vulgaris. Still, it is associated with acne and nonspecific facial dermatitis, particularly in patients with patchy redness, dry, scaly skin, roughness, insect bite-like papules, and flushing.

INTRODUCTION: Increased femoral anteversion (FAV) can have many clinical manifestations, including anterior knee pain (AKP). To our knowledge, no studies have measured the location of FAV in a cohort of female AKP patients. The objective of this research is to determine whether the increased FAV in AKP females originates above the lesser trochanter, below the lesser trochanter or at both levels. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Thrity-seven consecutive AKP female patients (n = 66 femurs) were recruited prospectively. There were 17 patients (n = 26 femurs; mean age of 28 years) in whom the suspicion for the increased FAV of the femur was based on the clinical examination (pathological group-PG). The control group (CG) consisted of 20 patients (n = 40 femurs; mean age of 29 years) in whom there was no increased FAV from the clinical standpoint. All of them underwent a torsional computed tomography of the lower limbs. FAV was measured according to Murphy´s method. A segmental analysis of FAV was performed using the lesser trochanter as a landmark. RESULTS: Significant differences in the total FAV (18.7 ± 5.52 vs. 42.46 ± 6.33; p < 0.001), the neck version (54.88 ± 9.64 vs. 64.27 ± 11.25; p = 0.0006) and the diaphysis version (- 36.17 ± 8.93 vs. - 21.81 ± 11.73; p < 0.001) were observed between the CG and the PG. The difference in the diaphyseal angle between CG and PG accounts for 60% of the total difference between healthy and pathological groups, while the difference between both groups in the angle of the neck accounts for 40%. CONCLUSION: In chronic AKP female patients with increased FAV, the two segments of the femur contribute to the total FAV, with a different pattern among patients and controls, being the compensation mechanism of the diaphysis much lower in the pathological femurs than in the controls.
